A Pathologic Observation on Spontaneous Mammary Gland Tumor in the ICR Mice

Abstract
|
|
|
A total of 470 ICR mice were examined to observe the spontaneous mammary gland tumor with gross, microscopic and electron microscopic examination.
1. The occurence rate of mammary tumor was 2.8 per cent and the rate was increased in older ages.
2. Histopathologically, mixed (A & B) type adenocarcinoma, type B adenocarcinoma and undifferentiatied carcinoma were observed and most tumors showed mixed type.
3. Metastatic foci in the lung were appeared in older ones over one year of age. The ratio of left: right was 6:7, and thoracic: inguinal mammary gland tumors was 4:9.
4. Intracytoplasmic A type mouse mammary tumor virus was detected in tumor cells by electron microscopy.
